About
I am a Professional artist, born and raised in North Carolina. I found myself interested in wildlife at a very early age and realized I was given a gift of accurately drawing things ranging from birds to a coffee pot. I have worked hard for many years to become a good artist and I find myself never satisfied with my work. In 2008 I decided to start showing some of my work to the public and started competing in state ‘duck stamp’ art competitions. Placing third in my first contest followed up by a first place finish I realized that the competitive nature of these competitions was something I enjoyed. Though I love painting waterfowl and still compete in a few of these contest, I’m currently focusing on broadening my subject matter to things such as marine life, large animals and landscapes.
Art of Conservation
As a wildlife artist and outdoor enthusiast, I consider conservation an important part of my life. I believe it is our responsibility to help preserve nature and the balance it gives us. This is what motivates my involvement with conservation groups such as Ducks Unlimited and Coastal Conservation Association (NC). These organizations create awareness of the preservation of our natural landscapes and protect our outdoor traditions for generations to come.
In my work I strive to be true to nature by accurately depicting scenes and animals that can recreate an emotional experience someone had in the outdoors.
